Raccoon removal in Des Moines and surrounding areas
Raccoons typically make their den in chimneys, roofs and attics, and over bedrooms where it tends to be quieter during the day. They are nocturnal making them quite a nuisance when homeowners are trying to sleep.
Raccoon baby season typically occurs from March to June when female raccoons look to find a warm, and secure place to birth their litter of babies. Raccoon litters can contain anywhere from one to seven babies. Raccoon babies are born with their eyes closed and do not become mobile until at least six to eight weeks of age. During the birthing season, our humane process includes finding and removing any babies by hand and placing them in a heated reunion box outside the home so their mother can relocate them to one of her other den sites in the area. Raccoons will keep up to ten additional den sites in the area.
Raccoons will damage your roof to gain access to the attic space below. Common entry points for raccoons include roof vents, soffits, and old shingles that they can tear off with their paws. Once inside, raccoons destroy insulation, damage wiring, and leave behind large amounts of droppings. Raccoons are opportunistic so it is recommended that you inspect your home and roof seasonally for signs of damage to get ahead of costly repairs and potential hazards.
